City Walk on Sustainable Consumption – a really great opportunity for new students in Lund to get to know places where they can consume more sustainably in Lund and learn about the impact of their individual consumption. It’s not only about being green, but also good for everyone’s purse, since buying second hand clothes or furniture, and eating seasonable food also saves quite a lot of money and makes living in Lund more affordable – while doing something for the environment and society.
These are the details:
The City Walk on Sustainable Consumption
Where in Lund can I get clothes made of fair trade and organic cotton?
Where to buy local and seasonal vegetables?
Do you know already all of Lund’s fantastic Second Hand Shops?
Hållbart Universitet – Lund Students for Sustainability – will answer these and more questions in this tour, which instead of visiting tourist sites, will show you different places in Lund, where you can find out about the social and environmental impacts that the production and consumption of goods have – like a pair of jeans, a mobile phone, a cup of coffee or a steak. New students, especially those who are arriving with only a 20kg suitcase, have to acquire lots of new things: furniture, clothes, food and much more. But does it always have to be new? What are the cheap, but sustainable options? Where do I find seasonable fruits and vegetable, which are often cheap and much tastier than imported ones? We will point out alternatives and local examples for sustainable consumption, showing how you can make a difference through your choice as consumer! Remember: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world!” (Margaret Mead) The tour will be held in English.
Meeting point for the city walk is in front of Erikshjälpen Second Hand Store. We will then walk through Lund together. The tour will end at ABC World Shop. Every participant will receive a map of Lund where all the places and shops are indicated that we visited throughout the tour and many more, which you can visit later on your own!
