St. Martin’s Day/Mårten Gås

9 Nov

“One of the nice things about living in Skåne is you are never far away from a farm that can sell you a freshly plucked goose.” (!)

How fresh is that?

You may not have know of the region’s important connections to the geese market, but you might have heard of celebratory meals taking place on November 10 here in the south of Sweden for St. Martin’s Day.

This great article (in English!) has all the details, including some recipes (and the weirdest spam comments ever), as does this one (the recipes are strangely similar… and no weird comments).

In reality we’re not sure where you’d buy a goose, but apparently one shouldn’t be that hard to find! Here are some wine suggestions to accompany the meal (that was Google translated).
