Pleasant weather brings home summer

The weather reports were true, for once – it was indeed a beautiful day for Midsummer! Here are a few pictures of an authentic maypole raising!

Mark reports: “Pictures are taken at Vallkärra, north of Lund, on June 25.  There were lots of children and their parents learning traditional Swedish folk dances around the maypole to the tune of violins and an accordion.  The event started at about 5pm and lasted about 1 1/2 hours.  After the children left, the adults started drinking and took over the party drunk…”

And that’s how you celebrate midsommar!
