After months of preparations, Lundakarnevalen opens officially today, Friday May 21, at noon (check out the schedule).
The carnival area stretches throughout Lundagård and even up to Paradisgatan (Barneval kids area). Maps of the whole surface are available from the information/ticket booths (we’re looking for an online version, all we got so far is this official online live map, this or this).
Quick run through of the Official map and how it works…
Mat ock dryck – Food and drinks
Yellow numbers 1 – 5. Each with a theme – Monarki (monarchy), Mustach (moustache), Torskfiske (codfish), Lagom (just right), Bierstube (German Ale house). Open noon-1am, except the Bierstube, open 2pm-2am.
Tält och små nöjen – Tents and small pleasures
Red numbers 1 – 24 on the map. Different small activities/shows, fun to just walk around and follow your fancy. (You can buy series of 10 tickets in advance at the ticket booths to use there, different prices if paying cash.)
Tombola – Raffle
Pink numbers T1 – T9. Fun-fair games where you can win small prizes. (You can buy series of 3 tickets for 20 SEK at the ticket booths to use there, different prices if paying cash.)
Other useful things on that map – sjukvård (First Aid), polis (duh), ruljangsen (merchandise). Everything has funny names and there’s a lot of Swedish student humour going on – see if you get it?
A great Lundakarnevalen to all! 😀
