Most usual activities on hold, party begins mid-week
Be aware some Nation lunches and pubs/nightclubs might be cancelled this week due to carnival preparations – double check before making plans. However, do plan to attend Nations’ karneval activities, many of which begin a day or two earlier than the official Lundakarnevalen (May 21-23).
Indeed, on top of the main Lundakarnevalen events revolving around the “rätt och fel” (right and wrong) theme, nations run their own activities along parallel themes.
For an overview of what each nation is organizing as well as other useful info…
Check directly with the nations you’d like to visit for ticket information – some will sell multi-day passes, some have sittnings that must be booked (and paid for) in advance, some allow you to skip the queue with pre-booked tickets, etc. Look for nations’ expen opening hours.
AF membership (i.e. a Nation student card) or a guest card (100 SEK for carnival, must be purchased ahead of time) is required for all nation activities where alcohol is sold. Afternoon entry is usually free but evening admittance usually costs.
If you want to experience things from the inside, and benefit from thank-you parties, check with your nation if they still need volunteers!
This list as compiled by The Dynamo is not exhaustive, but we’re doing our best to find out as much as we can! We will update it as we find out more, keep checking back, and let us know if you know something we don’t!
